the gardener is on vacation...

I'm visiting my parents in southern Florida. Talk about perfect weather!! I'm just going to post a bunch of photos.

breakfast in florida

This is my Florida breakfast. A grapefruit from the backyard and bread made with frozen zucchini and summer squash from my garden. Yummy.

The grapefruit and oranges are heavy on the trees and the trees are in full bloom - at the same time! But I missed avocado season. The avocado trees are just starting to bloom now. I've never seen an avocado blossom before. Quite small. The bees are all over them.

These are avocado flowers:

Yum, I love citrus.

Nice shots. I want to make zucchini bread, it would be a nice change from the tons of banana bread I make. Toddlers leave lots of bananas.

Most of us are pretty envious indeed. I love zucchini bread. We make zucchini pancakes, sounds bad but they are pretty good, just grate up zucchini and add to your pancake mix.

The citrus and avocado flowers are new for me thanks...

Kathy - enjoy Florida! In Arizona, in the shadow of South Mountain, our citrus are flowering and it is glorious: crisp cool mornings and warm afternoons. Pixie and I picked backyard citrus and sent off boxes of oranges, grapefruit and lemons to the relatives in the East this morning. I'd never seen an avocado blossom - they are exquisitely beautiful! Have fun!

Your zucchini bread looks delicious. I will have to grate & freeze some zuc's this year.

The avocado flower is very interested and yes they are rather small in comparison to the fruit.

Enjoy your get away!

I love avocado's and have been thinking of adding an avocado tree to the yard for a while now. Maybe this year.........

I love the growing weather here, but don't you find it a bit ugly compared to New England?

ENJOY the warm weather respite! It's always lovely to have an infusion of warmth in the winter, and even better to share it with family.

And I hope that spring will come soon to the NE and a productive gardening season awaits.

Have fun! Your food looks delicious, and the pictures are a reminder that in a little while we in the northeast will also see that sun and warmth - but you got a sneak peek! :-)
