sowing seeds

Diane reminded me that its nearly time to plant the tomatoes. I printed out a planting calender for myself (from the on-line calendar link on my side bar). I will plant eggplant, peppers, marigolds, basil and beets this week. Next week, tomatoes and cabbage. I have pots and soil ready.

You sure have a lot of seedlings. I bet it will be a very good crop this year.

Wow! I have to wait at least another month before starting tomatoes. Is Zone 6 really that different from Zone 5?

I think there can be a lot of differences even within zones. I'm planning to sow tomato seeds 6 weeks before the last frost this year. (Last year I tried a few at 10 weeks and they didn't do any better then the 6 week ones.)

My sheltered home garden has its last frost usually around April 25. My community garden plot (one mile away) is very exposed and its average last frost is around May 10. So I should be planting them on March 29.

I'm so jealous! I would love to be planning my garden right now but we are moving this summer so I don't get to plant one this year.
